Yacht racing has a rich history in our area and we are active, avid racers.  The Halifax River Yacht club was the sponsor of the longest continual East coast race, The Transpac race to Bermuda for many years. The H.R.Y.C. fleet celebrated its 30^th year of sailing the Commdoroe Cup Regatta series this past year!  Our racing heritage lives on! Racing is alive and growing in our area.

HRYC COMMODORE CUP SERIES - 2008

 GULFSTREAMER 2008 was a blast.  The gulfstreamer is raced in the even numbered years from Ponce Inlet to Chalreston, SC.  The race is co-sponsored by the Halifax river Yacht Club abd the Charleston Yacht club and rates at 225 miles.  This year the breeze was light, calm and then blew out of the N.E. in the gulfstream to 28-30 knots.  What a great time!!  Keep track of the up coming 2010 gulfstreamer by visiting www.thegulfstreamer.com.

 HRYC carries on the tradition of remembering our friend and sailor Gary Gordon by holding the Gary Gordon Memeorial regatta this fall with an over-night race from Ponce Inlet to Ohio Shoals which is located off Titusville, Fl.  See www.hryc.com/index.php for the calendar and Notice of Race, Race Entry and more.

 

Halifax Sailing Association

There is always racing going on at HSA.  Check out all the information at www.halifaxsailing.org.  The winter series started with the Turkey Trot race, October 11,2007. Racing takres place on the Halifax River near Bethune Point.  

Wedenesday night racing has started at HSA!  Everyone come and play!!!
